In Japan, real GDP [gross domestic product] is expected to grow by 1.7% in 2014 and 1.2% in 2015, after increasing by 2.8% in 2013. However, the rate of growth will decrease during 2014 and 2015 under the weight of two successive consumer tax increases that are to take effect on April 1, 2014 and October 1, 2015.
